Special Issue: Women in Geomatics in 2026

Message from the Guest Editors

Geomatics is a rapidly evolving and interdisciplinary field, encompassing geodesy, remote sensing, photogrammetry, GIS and spatial data science.

This Special Issue aims to highlight the contributions and perspectives of women in geomatics and to foster a more inclusive research community. We invite original research articles, reviews, and perspective papers authored or co-authored by women scientists across all areas of geomatics. Topics of interest include geospatial technologies, Earth observation applications, digital twins and smart cities, environmental monitoring, cultural heritage documentation, geospatial artificial intelligence, spatial data infrastructure, spatial data analysis, and the role of diversity in shaping research outcomes.

This Special Issue also seeks to promote visibility, networking, and mentorship opportunities, encouraging dialogue on gender equity, career development, and the evolving role of women in spatial sciences.

We aim to showcase excellence, inspire future generations of female scientists, and strengthen the global geomatics community.

We look forward to your valuable contributions
